BIOGRAPHY

I am a freelance harpist based in Cheltenham Gloucestershire. I play the harp at weddings, corporate events, with orchestras & other music groups. I am also an experienced and sympathetic harp teacher who gives harp lessons from my home in Cheltenham. I play both classical and traditional music on the Concert and Celtic Harp.

I was born in Abergavenny and began studying music in school, gaining Grade 8 with Distinction in both Harp and Piano. I studied the harp at Bristol University where I completed a BA (hons) in Music. I further developed my performing abilities by completing a Postgraduate Advanced Diploma in Harp Performance at the Royal Welsh College College of Music and Drama (Cardiff.) I have also completed a MA at University College London. I have performed at St David’s Hall, Highgrove for HRH Prince Charles, the Albert Hall and the Royal Welsh Show.

I studied harp principally with Valerie Aldrich-Smith (BBC National Orchestra of Wales.) I have also participated in master classes with many noted harpists including Elizabeth Fontan-Binoche, Elinor Bennet, Isabelle Perrin, Caryl Thomas, Osian Ellis and leuan Jones.

I have performed at St David’s Hall (Cardiff), Highgrove for HRH Prince Charles, the Albert Hall and the Royal Welsh Show. I have played with many orchestral groups including the BBC National Orchestra of Wales, Cardiff Philharmonia, and the Chandos Symphony Orchestra. I was also Principal Harpist with the National Youth Orchestra of Wales. In addition, I have recorded Britten’s Ceremony of Carols with the choir of St David’s Cathedral.
